Goat Eats Grass

In the coming days leading to the celebration of Lunar New Year, you will hear a familiar holler in many Chinese Restaurants.Lo Hei

People shouting “Huat Ah!” They are not calling for the waiter or someone by that name. It’s a Hokkien term for “prosperity” used during this age-old tradition of Lo-Hei or “tossing up good fortune.”

As this is the Year of the Goat, you may want to consider a fruit and vegetable Lo-Hei. After all goat eats grass.

Here’s the Recipe and Ritual for Fruits & Veggie Lo-Hei.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You as in all cultures Lunar New Year means a chance for a fresh start and a new beginning.

We thank You we are a new creation through Your Son Jesus Christ who makes it possible for us to have new life that brings prosperity to our souls.

You liken the righteousness to a strong tree that withstands storms and bears fruits in its season (Jeremiah 17:8; Psalm 1:3).

May we be like strong trees planted by streams of water that continually bear fruits for Your Kingdom in every season.

  • Add Vegetables – carrot, white and green radish, beetroot

We praise You Holy Spirit for the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22).

May the fruit of Your Spirit grow and prosper in our lives for the glory of Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • Add Pomelo, tangerine, papaya, guava, mango, green apple, pomegranate

We praise You Holy Spirit our Helper for Your wonderful gifts of power and inspiration (I Corinthians 12:1-11).

Let these gifts equip us for every good work and let Your Spirit’s power quicken and inspire our lives for the furtherance of Your Kingdom.

  • Add dried fruit – persimmon, pineapple, cranberries, apricot, candied orange

We praise You Holy Spirit for enabling us to call You our Father and Jesus our Lord. May the same Spirit ever fills us and anoints us to live and grow in the likeness of Christ.

  • Add golden olive oil, plum paste, lime juice

We thank You for the plans You have for us to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let Your holy will and perfect plan be done and fulfilled in our lives.

  • Add pepper and five spice powder

We thank You for the promise that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).

Let us always pray believing You will give us much more than we ask for.

  • Add peanut powder

We thank You, Lord Jesus for telling us when we keep Your commands and abide in Your love, Your joy will remain in us and our joy will be full (John 15:11).

May we know the lasting joy that no one can take away.

  • Add crackers

And Lord Jesus, You have taught us faith is like mustard seeds and when sown on the fertile soil of our hearts will make a difference (Mark 4:8; Matthew 13:31-32).

Let our hearts always be like good soil where good seeds yield a hundredfold.

  • Add walnuts, cashew nuts, pistachio & sesame seeds
